NYCC 2012: RZA Developing Adaption of Morrison and Robertson’s Happy!

Well here’s a fun bit of news to help begin the onslaught of oncoming NYCC announcements.

As revealed at The Hollywood Reporter, it appears that RZA, whose directorial debut The Man with the Iron Fists, will be adapting a film version of Grant Morrison and Darrick Robertson’s Image mini, “Happy!” Morrison is currently set to write the script, and Reginald Hudlin is joining as producer.

The comic itself, which we reviewed quite favorably, follows Nick Sax, a hitman who has a botched hit and ends up seeing a tiny, blue talking horse named Happy. It’s also centered around Christmas, so it plays off with a dark twinge of It’s A Wonderful Life, if that movie took place in Gotham City.

Suffice it to say, expect this film to become a fast holiday classic.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
