In addition to his contributions over at Comix Tribe (where you can pick up the Comix Tribe exclusive “Scam PINT” and four issues of “The Standard”), John Lees is bringing his creator-owned and self-published comic “And Then Emily Is Gone.”

A horror-mystery series about a former cop looking for a missing teenage girl, the book is illustrated by Ian Laurie and is lettered by Scotland’s own Colin Bell. Starring the appropriately named Greg Hellinger, the appropriately creepy book finds him helping the young Fiona as they travel to the remote community of Merksay in the Scottish Orkney Islands, where “strange and terrifying things are happening.”

Also, there’s a creepy as all heck monster called Bonnie Shaw. It already gives me nightmares.

Nominated for 4 of Glasgow’s SICBA awards and already a hit back in Scotland, this is the first time it has ever been available for sale in the US — and if you need extra reasons to pick it up, how about pull quotes from Michael Moreci, Owen Michael Johnson Nick Pitarra, Riley Rossmo, Shaky Kane and Frank Quitely? Because it comes with those.

The first issue will be for sale from John at his place at the Comix Tribe table, booth 1172. The second issue is on its way. Get this while it’s hot and while you can.

You can read more about “And Then Emily Was Gone” on John’s website. In the meantime, take a look at some of the character designs here by series artist Iain Laurie:

“There is no Bonnie Shaw…”

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
