During their panel at New York Comic Con. IDW publishing announced the latest installments of its line of special edition collections. The company will publish Artist Editions of Dave Gibbon’s “Watchmen”, Jack Kirby’s “New Gods”, and Charles Schulz’ “Peanuts”. The artist editions consist of reproductions of classic artwork as close to their original form as possible, as if they just left the artist’s desk. For example, the “Peanuts” strips will be nearly two feet wide, the size which Schulz drew them. The idea is to give customers the feeling of owning he original art without paying the astronomically high price that a page from “Watchmen”, for example, typically sells for.

Check out this interview with IDW editor Scott Dunbier for a more detailed look at the process of creating the new Artist Editions, and the unique challenges of “Watchmen”.
