Updated to include art for “All New Ghost Rider” from Marvel’s interview with Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Marvel has announced even more books from NYCC. This time at the ‘Inhumanity And all New Marvel Now” panel, the coverage of which comes straight from CBR once more. As always, there’s a lot to cover here so let’s just get straight to it, shall we?

Well, first of all… FELIPE SMITH AND TRADD MOORE ARE ON A NEW “GHOST RIDER” SERIES. Sorry, I’m just a little bit too excited for this. Ghost Rider is a character I love and it’s about time he showed up once more. While not much was revealed at the actual panel (they didn’t even showcase any artwork hence why there’s none here), editor Mark Pannicia brought some interesting details to Newsarama in an interview. Most interesting is that this “Ghost Rider” series won’t be starring Johnny Blaze or any other previous Ghost Rider. Instead, Smith and Moore will be introducing Roberto “Robbie” Reyes, a mechanic from something of a bad neighbourhood who only sticks around for his disabled brother, Gabriel. Already, that’s a different tone from previous “Ghost Rider” series and it will be interesting to see how that turns out. Also interesting is the fact that Reyes won’t just be limited to motorcycles in his time as the Rider. ” Tradd, Felipe and I all have similar taste in cars so you’re going to see a lot of 60s and 70s muscle cars, very angular stuff like GTOs and early Chargers,” Pannicia told Newsarama. So, this is definitely one to look out for.

Next up is the announcement that not only will Ales Kot be taking over “Secret Avengers”, he’ll also be at the helm of an “Iron Patriot” series. I’d say it’s about time Rhodey got his own book, especially after Iron Man 3, and that Ales Kot might just be the perfect choice for this. He’ll be joined by Garry Brown on art and is said to be focusing on Rhodey’s quest to become his own man away from Tony Stark and other superheroes. With Kot’s focus on examining the military industrial complex in books like “ZERO”, this is a perfect place for that. Expect this to be big.

The other new series announcement is that Dan Slott and Mike Allred are going cosmic with the “Silver Surfer”. What this means for “FF” is anyone’s guess, but looking at that cover it’s safe to say that Allred is a perfect fit for this book. However, it’s Slott that will be the controversial element. Though I suspect that unless he kills Norrin and has his mind replaced with Galactus most of the waffling about his writing will be just that. One interesting element about this is that Slott emphasized the girl on the cover there as a major part of the series saying “the universe is more fun when you see it with someone.” That’s a very different take on the character who has mostly been defined  by his isolation from other characters. This is one to watch.

Other details from the panel include that James Robinson’s “All New Invaders” is most definitely taking place in the present in the Marvel universe, but will be influenced by the events of the past. Events that will lead to the invasion of the Kree homeworld, apparently, which should be interesting. Also “Inhumanity” #1 will drop in January and we wil see tie-in one-shots for “Medusa”, by Matt Fraction and Nick Bradshaw, and for “Spider-Man”. Also “Iron Man” #20.INH and “Indestructible Hulk” #18.INH will be tying into the event as evidenced by their numbering.

And that seems to be about it? If you want a more extensive play-by-play coverage of the panel, though, be sure to check out CBR. Just one more panel to go and we’ll have a whole host of new Marvel series to look forward to.
