The Batman Panel at New York Comic Con is revealing a ton of new info about plans for the Bat-family of books next year. Much of the talk as revolved around the new weekly series “Batman: Eternal”, where the character of Stephanie Brown will make her long awaited debut in the New 52.

According to “Batman” writer and “Eternal” showrunner Scott Snyder, via the BC live blog, Stephanie Brown will be presented with a “modern fresh take that honors the character.”

Brown originally appeared as the daughter of Bat-villain Cluemaster, before adopting her own superhero persona as Spoiler. Brown remained as part of Gotham’s gallery of heroes for over a decade before Tim Drake’s resignation elevated her to the position of Robin, and Brown became the first female Robin in mainstream DC continuity. Her time as Batman’s sidekick was short-lived, however, as Brown was soon killed by Black Mask. Her death was controversial with fans, and when the character returned to life Stephanie reached a new level of prominence in Gotham as the new Batgirl. The character has not been seen since the New 52 reboot, and fans have been vocal regarding her absence.
