In a spotlight panel at New York Comic Con, Greg Capullo announced that after issue #51 of “Batman,” he’s going to take a brief hiatus from the title. “It’s going to be very short,” series writer Scott Snyder promised the audience. “He and I have known this for a long time.”

The reason for his break: he’s working on a project with Mark Millar. In true Mark Millar fashion, he’s courting these talented artists to leave the projects that are actually interesting for some conventional Mark Millar drivel. (Probably waving movie deals at them as he lures them away.)

Scott Snyder, though, will continue writing “Batman” post-#51. Neither he or DC have mentioned who’s going to fill in on the title in the interim.

Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder have worked on “Batman” since the start of The New 52 and continued on through the DC You initiative. Their work collaboration has frequently charted in the top 10 Diamond numbers as well as frequently appeared on the New York Times Bestseller list. “When you work with someone for a long time, the best thing about comics is the collaborative nature of it,” says Snyder.
