NYCC: "It’s Coming" is Obviously the Phoenix, Will be Huge (UPDATED)

UPDATE: We’ve replaced the previous image with the recently released official Marvel teaser art.

There has been a lot of hype coming from the Marvel offices about something that is coming. They had sent out postcards simply stating “it’s coming” and now we have a good idea of what it is: the Phoenix.

Not only that, but it will be written by all of the Marvel Architects (Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Matt Fraction, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker) and illustrated by a combination of Olivier Coipel, John Romita, Jr. and a Kubert (assumably Adam because I believe Andy is DC exclusive).

Besides all of that, we don’t know a whole lot. We know it will be in 2012, but here are some thoughts.

We know in 2012 there is going to be an event that ties everyone in the Marvel Universe together, and what better way to do that than the Phoenix? Obviously there is the X-Men connection there, but it is big enough to involve everyone. As my 4 Color News and Brews co-host pointed out, we’re coming up on the 10th anniversary of Jean Grey’s death, so this would be the perfect time. Not only that, but he had this suggestion: if you were going to do something huge that involved all of that talent, wouldn’t it make sense to do a 52 like weekly series? You have five writers and a base of three artists. It could be done.

I for one would love to see a Marvel weekly series, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Whatever it is though, it is apparently coming.
