So, I’m back from NYCC now! I’m in your internets, writing some news. And one thing that we got to late was the DC Universe panel, which is why this bit of news never popped up on our site! However, now that I’m here and surfing the internet for tidbits as if I had some kind of surfboard to do so, I can impart this:
James Robinson accidentally let it slip that he will be writing a Hawkman ongoing. Oops!
One of the articles you never saw us posting as a site was about DC’s post-Brightest Day world. Just like with other series of this caliber (i.e. 52 or even Countdown), DC has been known to start new series when these type of “events” wrap up. DC had made very strong implications that Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and Firestorm were all going to get on-goings when Brightest Day wrapped up, but they didn’t confirm anything and our article was deleted from the draft stage. Except now we know that Robinson let it slip that he’s writing Hawkman, so there you go!
I for one am rather excited for this, despite what people may be saying of the current state of Robinson’s writing. I’m a big fan of Hawkman, especially after the Johns era of stories (from when Johns wrote JSA), so it’ll be nice for him to get a big spotlight again. Now let’s see if the other predictions for post-BD books are true.
