NYCC: Lemire Confirms Ray Palmer’s Role In The DCnU

This past weekend at NYCC, we spoke to writer/artist Jeff Lemire about his current work with DC, and while discussing his Frankenstein title, Lemire clarified Ray Palmer in his current position.

According to Lemire, Ray Palmer is the same character we once knew as the Atom, but he simply has not grown into that role yet. However, there are also no plans to bring the former superhero back to his mini-costume as of now, and the Atom may never be a superhero in the DCnU. Lemire, obviously an Atom fan given that he wrote the character for a short time previously, is still using some of the ideas he introduced in his previous Atom run (seen in the back-ups for Adventure Comics), and for now that will be all.

Given the quality of Frankenstein (and Lemire’s other work), we’re generally ok with this. With the DCnU, you never can know what will happen, right?

Look for our interview with Lemire from NYCC up soon.
