NYCC: Tieri, Palmiotti and Conner Unveil "Captain Brooklyn" for Image Comics

“Captain Brooklyn” is coming, thanks to the team of writers Frank Tieri and Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Amanda Conner. This three issue mini-series is coming from Image Comics in May, and sounds like an absolute blast.

It’s about Vinnie, a down-on-his-luck guy whose grandfather gets sick, he gets in trouble with the wrong people and his life just generally starts to fall apart. Then he gets super powers and things really start to go badly.

The character sounds, at least partially, inspired by Tieri himself, and it also sounds like it will be in the vein of Conner’s previous collaboration with Garth Ennis titled “The Pro.” Whether that is shudder-inducingly awesome for you or not is uncertain, but I can tell you this: I’m down. It sounds like a filthy version of John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke’s fantastic “Major Bummer” series for DC.

Sign me up.

More on it as we get it on this one, but look for it in May of 2012.
