They’re back!

Announced today at NYCC, Valiant Comics is relaunching the comedic adventure duo of Archer & Armstrong, simply titled “A&A”, by writer Rafer Roberts (“Plastic Farm”, “Thanos and Darkseid: Carpool Buddies of Doom) and illustrated by David Lafuente (“Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man”, “Batman Eternal”). The first relaunch of “Archer and Armstrong” since Valiant’s return was a highly regarded book under writer Fred Van Lente told the tale of a ten-thousand year old immortal drunkard Aram Anni-Padda a.k.a. Armstrong and the 18-year old sheltered and naive martial arts expert named Obidiah Archer.

According to interview with Roberts and Valiant’s Editor-in-Chief, Warren Simmons, the first arc of the book is called “In the Bag” where the duo are literally into Armstrong’s satchel that he carries around with him, where they will face off monsters, demons and old friends trapped within. Chief among them the brand new villain Bacchus, modeled after the Greek god of wine and revelry.

Speaking as Multiviversity’s unofficial “Valiant Guy”, this is pretty exciting. Roberts work on “Thanos and Darkseid” and the backup stories in a variety of Valiant 25th Issue Specials have been pretty hilarious and Lafuente’s cartoon work has evolved in massive ways from “Spider-Man” to “Batman Eternal” to today, making me dying for “The Ludocrats” that was announced at an Image Expo.

“A&A” #1 launches March 2016.
