Rumors had swirled that the team behind DC’s “The Flash” were going to be following up their lauded run on the book with a turn on “Detective Comics”, taking their talents to Gotham City. Rumors, but no confirmation.
Now, it’s here, as DC Comics has announced that the dynamic art and writing duo will be taking the book over in the Spring of 2014. What issue they take over on was not shared, but they did tell USA Today quite a bit about what they had in mind for it.
“We want to bring him closer to his roots and be more of a street-level type of hero,” says the artist and co-writer with Buccellato. “His superheroics will still be present, but the investigative part of Batman will be at the forefront.”
The pair also promised that the perception that they couldn’t handle darker fare is untrue, and they would be dedicated to the bringing the world of Gotham – the thing Batman cares perhaps most about – to life.
Pair all that with the vibrant, astonishingly beautiful art we’ve come to expect from them, and this book just became one to watch (even with John Layman and Jason Fabok crushing it right now). Looking forward to this one.
