One More Push: Sullivan’s Sluggers Reaches the Last Two Days of it’s Kickstarter

It doesn’t really seem that long ago that we were talking about “Sullivan’s Sluggers” almost daily; from the book finally wrapping up, to appearing on Kickstarter and getting both fully funded and exceeding it’s goal and receiving a movie deal. It’s been an impressive show of force both for indie comics in general as well as the very idea of putting together independently made and published comic books, and a great success for the medium.

So, since we last reported on it, the “Sluggers” Kickstarter has made $78,991 at the time of writing this. That’s over 13 times the initial goal! Talk about a home run? (I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.) With that new dollar amount several things have changed: you still get the book for simply a $30 pledge, but the book is also omnibus-sized and features a three page foldout piece of art by James Stokoe, and for different pledges you can now get prints, iPad cases and more. It’s basically a whole bevy of awesome.

But it’s not over yet! If the Kickstarter manages to hit $80,000, the entire omnibus-sized book will be put into a slipcase (similar to DC’s Absolutes), and if it hits $82,000 the book will come with a bound in ribbon bookmark (or “Dangling Bookmark Thingy” as Mark Andrew Smith calls it). And that’s just the stuff for you; if the KickStarter goes hire than $82,000, subsequent funds will be donated to the Hero Initiative.

So what are you waiting for? Give it a pledge. It’s the only way you’re going to get a copy of it, and over 2,000 people have pledged money for the book. 2,000 people can’t be wrong.

Besides, how can you not want to see the epic three-page fold-out of this:

You’d be crazy not to want to own that. Crazy, I tell ya!

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
