Today, it was revealed that Oni Press (via their Closed on Mondays Entertainment wing) have reached a deal with CBS Television Studios to develop shows based on Oni comics for TV.
With Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber’s Whiteout seeing release last year and Bryan Lee O’Malley’s epic Scott Pilgrim seeing its film’s release in a few weeks, things are looking up for Oni. This TV deal could mean very exciting things for both CBS and Oni, and for us fans. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Showtime (subsidiary of CBS) come out with a Stumptown TV series? Or even a Barry Ween animated series? The Sixth Gun anyone?
One way or another, this deal brings up a lot of exciting possibilities, and I for one have high hopes for it.
