“Operation S.I.N.” Goes Old School, Brings Agent Carter to the 616 Forefront

While I’m very trepidatious of TV/movie tie-in like things happening in comics – I prefer the two sides to remain separate – I have to admit, today’s “Operation S.I.N.” mini-series that Marvel announced sounds pretty great. Partnering Kathryn Immonen and the immensely talented Rich Ellis together, this book tells the story of (Agent) Peggy Carter, Howard Stark and former “Man on the Wall” Woodrow McCord (from “Original Sin”) as they “take a strange mission to Moscow”, and I am almost certain to join them on that journey.

It’s not even that the little we know about it sounds so spectacular – sure it sounds fun, especially with Woodrow McCord involved – but the team of Immonen and Ellis is really great. Immonen’s long been one of the most underrated writers in comics, and her work on books like “Runaways” and “Patsy Walker: Hellcat” was truly awesome. Ellis, who was the artist on one of the sneaky best books of the past few years, “The Stars Below”, is someone who does great work on whatever job, and he’ll be an awesome fit for the title. And that Gabriel Hardman cover, though. All of this.

This arrives in January 2015, just in time for the “Agent Carter” TV show. It’s such good timing I have to wonder if they planned it that way.
