Image Comics have announced their latest graphic novel, “Over My Dead Body,” a tie-in to the comic “Near Death.” The novel is written by Jay Faerber with art by Simone Guglielmini, who works alongside Gigi Baldassini, and colorist Ron Riley. Jacob Phillips, known for his work on “My Heroes have Always Been Junkies,” pencilled the novel’s main cover.
The novel is a pulp thriller that is described in the press release as equal parts Jack Reacher and John Wick. It follows convicted contract killer Markham, after he is freed by his prison warden and tasked with tracking down and rescuing the warden’s daughter from a dangerous separatist militia. The book will mark the climax of Markham’s journey towards redemption, following his vow to save lives rather than take them.
“Since the moment ‘Near Death’ ended, Simone and I have been planning the next step in Markham’s path to redemption,” said Jay Faerber. “We’re thrilled to unveil this new thriller that serves as a continuation of that series, but is presented in a fresh, accessible format for new readers.”
The novel promises the return of some major characters from “Near Death” who will cross paths with Markham on what could be his last journey.
“Over My Dead Body” goes on sale in comics shops on January 15th, and in bookstores on January 21st.
