Pak And McKone Take Over Astonishing X-Men

Announced today over at Marvel.com, it looks like following the alternating arcs of Daniel Way and Christos Gage, Astonishing X-Men will go back to a singular storyline penned by Greg Pak and illustrated by Mike McKone. On top of that, the upcoming arc will apparently shake things up a bit, putting in-a-relationship-with-one-of-the-most-powerful-and-deadly-telepaths-alive Cyclops with married-and-madly-in-love-with-the-king-of-a-foreign-nation Storm. Why they’re going to be locking lips is up in the air, but then again Astonishing’s whole purpose was to tell little side stories that are in continuity without messing with regular continuity.

Then again, with Schism in the middle of happening, this could easily be fallout of that. Pak did confirm in a Marvel interview that this is a post-Schism book, and added “”The current Scott/Emma and Storm/T’Challa relationships are amongst the most passionate in the Marvel Universe. So yes, what the heck is going on? I’ll just say that everything that’s happening is utterly inconceivable, but completely real, completely in character, and completely in continuity.” So anything is possible it appears.

Look for more on this book come November.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
