Teased on Pantheon Books’ tumblr, we now have our first official look at what I assume is the cover for the final book in Charles Burns’ latest trilogy of graphic novels, “Sugar Skull.”

If you’ve not yet read “X’ed Out” and “The Hive,” I don’t know what to tell you. Charles Burns is one of the best illustrators of our generation, and is mind-bending Tintin-inspired odd-yssey is truly something to behold. While the first two volumes have been read and read and analyzed over and over by folks like yours truly, the extra anticipation created by the new image of “Sugar Skull” will hopefully inspire more people to check out Burns’ latest opus.

Fall 2014 can’t come soon enough.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
