Get your Shark Repellent Bat-Spray ready for July as Jeff Parker, Michael Moreci, and Dan Parent bring together Adam West and Burt Ward’s classic versions of Batman and Robin from the 1960s Batman show with Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and the gang in “Archie Meets Batman ’66.” The first issue will debut with a cover from Mike Allred and variants from Derek Charm, Francesco Francavilla, Sandy Jarrell (with Kelly Fitzpatrick colors), Dan Parent (with J. Bone inks, Tito Pena colors), and Ty Templeton.

Parker described the excitement coming in the series in the exclusive announcement from Syfy Wire saying,

“Look, we all want to know what Jughead and The Joker make of each other, and we want to see the romance dynamics of Riverdale High thrown completely out of gear by bringing in Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. And will Pop Tate get ahead of this and start selling Bat Burgers? It’s very cool to work with a heavy hitting team of top talent. Michael and I synched up immediately with plotting, and Dan and J. Bone are the exact right cartoonists to make a mash-up like this really work. We are all wearing matching R letterman jackets while working on this, by the way.”

Parker has written all the previous “Batman ’66” comics and tackled a number of crossovers with other properties including Lynda Carter’s “Wonder Woman” and “The Green Hornet,” all of which had covers from Allred. Parent is also a classic “Archie” artist, and has illustrated numerous comics in the Riverdale world, and created the first LGBTQ character for the company, Kevin Keller. Moreci is a 2016 graduate of DC’s Writers Workshop and has worked on “Superman,” “The Flash,” and creator-owned series like “Roche Limit,” (Image) and the upcoming “Wasted Space” (Vault). This new Archie/DC crossover also comes on the heels of the recently wrapped “Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica.”
