Well, so much for that Unleash the Fanboy exclusive scoop report that was floating around on sites that aren’t this one yesterday.
As revealed at Marvel.com, James Spader aka that geeky guy from Stargate and probably some other films since then will be voicing Ultron in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. An Emmy-award winning actor for things that aren’t Stargate (I liked Stargate a lot, OK?), Spader joins the already incredible cast in the sequel to last summer’s hottest film in what will assumedly be 2015’s hottest film as the voice of one of the most menacing villains in the Marvel Universe, much to the chagrin of anyone who is a big fan of Paul Bettany.
It is important to note that James Spader is also not Timothy Dalton, which we would’ve liked to see that one time a while ago, but hey, maybe we should’ve done a better job of getting that scoop.
Now: this doesn’t discredit the “Jarvis as Ultron” theory, because a) it’s a plausible theory and b) there’s no additional information to really discredit it from a conceptual point of view. I mean, maybe Jarvis is Ultron, and as Ultron he doesn’t feel like sounding British and just really wants to sell you Acuras. I don’t know. I don’t have that exclusive.
You do have to laugh at Marvel running its own news as an exclusive on their own website, though. What next? Is Marvel going to get a scoop on their own film?
