In an exclusively delivered press release, it appears that Paul Grist is not going to be finishing the current run of Jack Staff and instead moving on to a new series entitled Mudman. The book will be a “back to basics” series with less cosmic threats and more down to Earth heroics.

Starring Owen Craig (not to be confused with Craig Owen, former lead singer of Chiodos), this new teenage character finds that his body is slowly turning into mud amidst getting detention and learning that his father has been taken hostage by armed robbers. Grist will be writing and illustrating this series in a similar fashion to Kane or Jack Staff, and Grist has plenty of plans for the character.

What this means for Weird World of Jack Staff, which had several solicited but never-released issues, is unknown.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
