Paul Levitz To Return To a New Legion Ongoing

DC has been announcing new books like crazy. THEY ARE SO EXCITED! And with good reason. A lot of cool things are coming up. Just yesterday we reported that DC was bringing back Birds of Prey with Gail Simone on the title. And as David chose his excitement to post that, I’m using my excitement to post this: the Legion are coming back full time!

This Spring, Levitz will team up with rising star artist Yildiray Cinar to launch LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #1, telling tales of the far-flung future, featuring your favorite Legionnaires — every month.

“It’s such fun to be back in the future, blowing up planets, undoing Legion marriages, revealing unrevealed factoids, and starting improbable new relationships. If there’s a better job in comics than writing the Legion, with its vast cast and creative opportunities, I’ve never held it.”

This is really of no surprise to anyone, especially if you’ve been paying attention to the future of the Superman books. Starting with issue #8 of Adventure Comics, we begin a new crossover arc about the Legion and Braniac that will span through the Superman books, and it only makes sense that the Legion will return with a new title after it’s over. Plus, with all the Legion back-ups that were in Adventure Comics, it seemed as if we were being groomed to have the Legion return. Throw in Superman and the Legion of Superheroes from Action Comics as well as Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds, and the signs were all there. Needless to say, I am excited for this.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
