This is going to be a big year for Paul Pope fans. With the Image release of “One Trick Rip-Off” and the upcoming release of “Battling Boy,” there’s plenty to be excited about.

So how about one more thing?

Revealed last week by Kotaku (and completely missed by us, unfortunately), Pope will also be releasing “The Death of Haggard West” through First:Second. The $2.99 single floppy acts as the hundred and first final issue of “The Invincible Haggard West,” all of which will operate as a prequel to “Battling Boy.” Haggard West himself represents the last century’s superhero, and if you’re as excited for “Battling Boy” as the rest of the world, then this looks like a can’t miss little vignette.

Here’s the official description of the book:

The Death of Haggard West / by Paul Pope
On Sale 7/17/13 * $2.99 *

This one-shot comic reprises scenes from the beginning of Battling Boy by Paul Pope. It presents the death of Haggard West, a vigilante-style superhero who protected the monster-ridden world of Arcolpolis before Battling Boy arrived to rid the planet of monster once and for all.

The Death of Haggard West is a 32-page one-shot limited edition pamphlet comic with exclusive material (illustration and original cover) from Battling Boy author-illustrator Paul Pope.

You can pre-order it now, if you’re so inclined. Look for more in July.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
