Those of you who just got home from the shop with your copies of “One Trick Rip-Off” (after listening to our recommendation, of course) have some good news waiting for you: new Paul Pope is on the way!
As revealed at EW’s Shelf Life (and spotted by Robot 6 before us), Paul Pope’s long awaited (nearly 6 years!) “Battling Boy” comic has finally found a new home and been given a release date: October 8th from First Second! The story centers around the son of the god of war, who is sent to Monstropolis to be the new protector of the city after the previous protector dies.
The book, which was originally at home with Paramount Pictures for a movie from Brad Pitt’s production company, was set to be a graphic novel produced in tandem with a film. However, as Pope stated, “The film can’t get made until the book is done, but the book can’t get done until I get off the film to finish it.” Now the book is being set for completion and release, with a sequel to follow in 2014 and the movie to come out at some point.
