Peter & Max And The Odd Case Of The Upside Down Book

Did anyone else pick up Peter & Max: A Fables Novel today? Fables is perhaps the single most successful Vertigo title ever, aside from maybe Hellblazer. With Fables we have 3 spin-offs (Jack Of Fables, The Literals, Cinderella, one direct graphic novel (1001 Nights of Snowfall), a pending series with ABC, and now a full prose novel by series creator Bill Willingham! I know that I was at my comic store as soon as it opened to pick up my copy of the novel. And you can be sure that we will have a review of it brought to you as soon as we finish by the one and only David Harper.

Only thing is – my book is upside down. Has anyone else out there had that problem? The pages are literally printed upside down. I thought maybe the book was inserted into the sleeve the wrong way, but nope. The entire book is upside down. The outside of the book matches the sleeve, it’s just the inside! And I swear, I’m not making this up!

The following pictures were all taken with my camera phone, so I apologize of the poor quality. I promise that the pictures are in no way doctored whatsoever, and that the way you see the book is the actuality of how I have it.

Click the images to see bigger photos, but how about that, guys? Pretty crazy if you ask me. Looks like someone at Vertigo is about to be placed in a burlap sack and thrown down a river! It’s not a big deal at all, and in fact I think it’s kind of funny. If anything, it should make my book worth more, no? I have the fabled “upside down” book! Pretty hilarious. Regardless, I look forward to the read.

Leave a message in the comments if this has happened to you. I’m interested to see if I’m the only one!

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
