Editor’s note: When this article first ran, it was ahead of time of Marvel’s initial announcement, something given to the New York Daily News the weekend after sites like this one broke the initial story.

As such, Marvel asked us politely to take down the story, and we did. Now that the news has been revealed, we have restored our initial article for posterity’s sake. Enjoy the original article below, and look forward to Peter swinging back into your life in April.

Update: Our intrepid source has confirmed that this indeed is legit, that Peter Parker is returning and he will be back in March’s “Superior” finale. This information comes from the same source that clued us into the idea that Otto would become Spider-Man, so distorted aspects of the above image aside, it looks like Peter is finally coming back. Ta da!

Original Post

Popping up on 4chan’s comic section, the above cover of the next issues of previews shows a new image of Humberto Ramos’ showing what is assumedly Peter Parker, full of life and joy and back in his role as the Amazing Spider-Man. Featuring a new logo and Dan Slott still riding, this would match with “Superior Spider-Man” supposedly ending in March with some big “no going back” twist at the end of it.

I will note: I can’t actually source where the image came from other than 4chan. I don’t know where it came from or how it got out into the wild. It is highly possible it is a hoax, and studying the above image (which we at Multiversity did thoroughly as a group before posting this) will show that there are strange imperfections to the image, such as the crystal clear logo and then the blurry #1 right next to it, let alone the digitally distorted information at the top. The legitimacy of this image is very suspect.

This could be a prank. A very convincing prank that is fairly well put together, but a prank none the less.

Or it’s a leaked announcement. A “scoop,” if you will.

You decide. For now, anyway.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
