BOOM! Studios is following up last year’s “Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon” with another original Power Rangers graphic novel. “Power Rangers: The Psycho Path” will follow sibling Rangers Andros (In Space‘s Red Ranger) and Karone (Lost Galaxy‘s Pink Ranger, and formerly the evil Andromeda) as they uncover the origins of the twisted and villainous Psycho Rangers.

“Everything turns upside down as Karone and Andros are forced to deal with the rise of the Psycho Rangers,” said BOOM! Senior Editor Dafna Pleban, in the book’s announcement at ComicBook.com. “[Karone struggles] with her identity as the dark and power-hungry Astronema and pull[s] Andros along for the ride … giving fans a chance to glimpse into the shadows behind the mysterious rebirth of these twisted versions of the original mighty heroes.”

The book will be written by Paul Allor (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), drawn by “Soul of the Dragon” artist Marcelo Costa, and feature a cover from Diego Galindo (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”). Speaking about the book at ComicBook.com, Allor said the story may not be exactly what fans expect.

“I can not wait for [‘The Psycho Path’] to be unleashed upon the unsuspecting populace,” said Allor. “The entire team has worked together to create a compelling and deliciously twisted journey that will surprise and delight Power Rangers fans all along the way. This book is not what you think it’s going to be. And I suspect you’ll love what it is.”

For his part, Cafaro seems excited to return to the world of Power Rangers, and to get to explore some new aspects of the Ranger universe.

“Being a part of the Power Rangers family is such a huge honor. I felt the weight of that honor in ‘Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon,’ and I can feel it now,” said Cafaro. “I think the Psycho Rangers universe is so powerful and dark; it has been very fun to work on!”

You can check out more from “Power Rangers: The Psycho Path,” including some initial character studies from Cafaro, at ComicBook.com. The book releases in comic stores on Oct. 9 and in bookstores on Oct. 15.
