This is not an exclusive to us. We just have to share it.
Revealed via BOOM!’s solicits and posted in high-res on his tumblog, Frazer Irving’s cover to Max Bemis and Jorge Coelho’s “Polarity” #3 is too good to be real. Honestly, if an artist has ever sold his soul to the devil, then that artist is Frazer Irving, because this piece is incredible. The composition, the mirrored image, the frantic and scattered emotions it invokes with the dual depiction of lead character Tim — all of it makes this not just a cover, but a god damned work of art.
(Er, not that all covers aren’t works of art, but you know what we mean.)
Frazer had this to say about the cover:
…another Polarity cover has leaked onto the web! So I am showing it off here in higher resolution because I do rather like this one a lot. I was channelling the mighty Bill Sienkiewicz to a certain degree with the manic linework and mixed textures, because I’ve always wanted to be able to rip him off take influence from his dynamic take on reality. Tho now I’ve said that I’ll probably get comments like “Dude, that looks more like you were ripping off inspired by Dave Mckean/Rudy Nebres/Alfredo Alcala/Egon Schiele/your mom” which shows to go you that we all see art thru a different lense.
And here’s the solicit for the issue, out in June:
Writer(s): Max BemisArtist(s): Jorge Coelho** THIS ITEM SHIPS IN JUNE 2013. **
As Tim starts to become comfortable with his new powers, he begins fighting the good fight unconventionally, attacking evils relevant to people of his generation. Meanwhile, Dr. Mays seems to have his own plans for Tim… Issue #3 of POLARITY is teeming with even more dark humor and commentary on the life of an indecisive 20-something as only SAY ANYTHING frontman Max Bemis could write. Each issue comes with a free download for a new original song written and performed by Max Bemis!
