As you may have noticed, this month we’re featuring a different artist each and every day of the month. We’re trying to highlight our favorites in the business, and so far we’ve talked with some really exciting creators. In case you miss any of them, we’re going to post an updated list of the previous week of interviews every Monday. If you miss any, make sure to check back here on Monday.
Here are the Artist August interviews we’ve had to date:
Nick Pitarra – We talk to the artist of Image Comics’ The Red Wing about working with Jonathan Hickman, which 80’s classic describes their relationship best, what it’s like to be a newcomer in the industry, and a whole lot more.
Fiona Staples – One of our favorite up-and-coming artists, we talk about how her upcoming collaboration with Brian K. Vaughan – SAGA – came together, what it felt like to get her Eisner nominations and Shuster wins, and just how digital her work really is.
Ryan Ottley – Our winner of Artist of the Year in 2010, Invincible artist Ryan Ottley chats with us about working with Kirkman, his solo material, and what it’s like to go from illustrating the interpersonal scenes of Invincible to the ones where planets are exploded by flying fists.
Rob Guillory – The artist of Chew, the newly anointed Eisner winner for Best Continuing Series, Rob talks with us about what it’s like to have such a meteoric rise in the industry, how he found his own visual vocabulary, and a whole lot more.
Joe Eisma – One of the best friends of our site, Joe gives us the moon – literally – as we talk with him about his art, the intricacies of working on an exciting book like Morning Glories, briefly teases a collaborative project he has brewing with Joe Keatinge, and gives us a tour of his studio.
Sina Grace – MC favorite Sina Grace talks with us about what it’s like to bring Image Comics title Lil’ Depressed Boy to life, how difficult it is to switch from being the editor of Skybound’s line to being the artist of his own book, how he went from a budding Michael Turner clone to his own brand of art, and a whole lot more.
Nate Simpson – In case you missed it, we LOVE Nonplayer. Nate is the writer and artist of that Image title, and he chats with us about working in comics versus video games, developing art of such intricate detail, and let’s us know his plans going forward with his book.
JH Williams III – Arguably one of the few who could possibly stake a claim to the title of “Best Artist in the Industry,” we talk to JH about his upcoming (and long awaited) launch of his Batwoman/Kate Kane title, what getting started was like for him, and just how he develops his intricate and beautiful layouts that have become such a touchstone for his work.
