A new Superboy series starring Connor Kent is kicking off in November and is sure to be a must buy because of Jeff Lemire’s name being on the cover (as well as artist Pier Gallo), but now readers have an even better reason to buy it: this absurdly amazing cover to the first issue from Rafael Albuquerque.
I’m mostly a writing guy – I totally fanboy up on writers like Jason Aaron, Brian Wood, and Brian K. Vaughan, etc. – but I am a complete fanboy when it comes to Rafael Albuquerque. Something about his art just completely connects with me and it has since his work on Blue Beetle. This work is a flat out A+ cover for a first issue – it’s iconic, it’s powerful, it’s fun – it sells the issue all by itself.
If you were on the fence with this book before, I implore you: buy this book when November comes.
