Part of you might be thinking “…who?” But for those of you who are like me and keep up to date with Jewish superheroes, you’ll definitely know the name Ragman. Last scene celebrating Hannukah in the DC Christmas Special, Ragman is now returning under the pen of Christos Gage for a one-shot in October! With artist Stephen Segovia, the goal of the mini is to reintroduce Ragman to the modern day DC reader, who most likely doesn’t know who he is. He was last seen briefly during the Battle of the Cowl, helping with some of the chaos in Gotham. As described by DC’s The Source,
Could the souls he has consigned to redeem themselves within his suit have the answers he needs about the great beyond? What mysteries surround Rory’s own father? Gage and Segovia give readers a look inside one of the DCU’s most unique and peculiar heroes in this one-shot event.
Look for the one-shot in stores everywhere October, as well as maybe a synagogue or two. Who knows, maybe if this does well we’ll get more Judaism in comics! Although, based on the description on DCU’s site mentioning “strained faith,” I’d imagine not.
