At Publishers Weekly, Random House Children’s Books have announced plans for a graphic novel imprint, Random House Graphic. The imprint will launch in Fall 2019, and take over the publication of several popular Random House Children’s Books series, including Jennifer L. Holm and Matt Holm’s “Babymouse,” Ben Costa and James Parks’s “Rickety Stitch and the Gelantinous Goo,” and “5 Worlds” (created by Mark and Alexis Siegel, Xanthe Bouma, Matt Rockefeller, and Boya Sun).

The imprint will be headed by longtime First Second Books staff member Gina Gagliano. Gagliano had been at the Macmillan-owned comic book imprint since it was founded in 2005, and was most recently associate director, marketing and publicity at the company. She stated:
“I’m excited to be part of building a brighter future for the medium, a future where there are comics for every reader, in every home, on everyone’s bookshelves. From awards to bestsellers, graphic novels have been advancing from success to success over the past decade. It’s the perfect time to take the next step forward with a kids comics imprint at Random House.”
Judith Haut, senior vice president and associate publisher of Random House Children’s Books, also stated, “It is a truly exciting and important time of growth for comics and graphic novels within the kids’ market, and we see a distinct opportunity to reach even more readers. We are thrilled to have Gina, with her creativity, expertise and passion for the medium, at the helm of our new venture.”
