According to a report from Deadline, Lionel Wigram has optioned Jeff Smith’s RASL for a film. Lionel Wigram, whom you might know from the Sherlock Holmes film franchise (he created the graphic novel that was pitched to executives to make the films), has bought the rights to the film with his own money with the hope to make it into a franchise at Warner Bros, with Jeff Smith as an executive producer.

The sci-fi comic, which is Smith’s current project post-Bone, follows a universe-hopping scientist inspired by the work of Nikola Tesla as he attempts to not only escape his dark past but also protect the stability of existence as we know it as things begin to unravel and an assassin begins hunting him.

While Bone has also been optioned for a film at Warner Bros as well, it has yet to have been made. RASL, which is currently at issue #9, has its last issue coming out in December. We’ll give you more news on the film as we get it.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
