Perfectly timed with the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, the upcoming Avengers sequel directed by Joss Whedon, is a new original graphic novel from the killer team of Rick Remender and Jerome Opena in April 2015. It’s title? The relatively groan worthy “Avengers: Rage of Ultron”, but regardless of the title, we’d take pretty much anything if it means more from the team who gave us parts of “Uncanny X-Force”, “Fear Agent” and “The Punisher”.
The book looks to tell the tale of the Avengers versus Ultron after he takes control of a moon of Saturn to form “Planet Ultron”, and only Hank Pym can save them (naturally). It sounds VERY up Remender’s alley, and literally anything is up Opena’s alley because that dude is a straight up art god. Whether or not it exists in any real continuity is uncertain, but it really doesn’t matter. This is a book that is meant to be paired with the film as an easily digestible comic story that tangentially relates to its story, and with Remender and Opena involved, we’re ensured a story that might hook neophyte comic readers with something thrilling and original.
Long story short, silly name or not, I’m in. This book drops April 2015.
