Hey gang! Remember that cool party we told y’all to come to? The one with us, Image Comics and a whole bunch of guests?
Well guess what, party people: it’s this week! Join us at the Houndstooth Pub (520 8th Avenue, New York, New York 10018 — a mere four blocks from the convention center, a fifteen minute walk) at 8PM after the convention for a night of fun, friendship and frolicing. To get in, all you need to do is donate $10 to the Hero Initiative, and we’ll have volunteers at the door. It goes to a great cause of helping comic creators with any potential legal or medical issues they may have, and for those of us who love the medium it’s an excellent opportunity to give back to the creators who work so hard to give us the comics we all love. Remember, though: it’s a 21+ event, so keep that in mind if you’d like to attend.
This is your chance to meet your favorite Multiversity staff members, such as myself (beard and all, although no cat shirts this year), associate editors Diamond David “Sassypants” Harper, Brian “Worked Really Hard To Make This Party Awesome” Salvatore and Walt “The New Guy” Richardson, as well as staff writer David “The Actual New Guy” Henderson, podcasters Brandon “4 Color Brews and Brews” Burpee and Mike “Doesn’t Know A Juliet” Romeo, and columnists Chad “Has Comics Being Announced At The Convention From Oni” Bowers, Jeremy “Has Comics For Sale At The Convention From 215 Ink” Holt and Joe “Just Joined Multiversity’s Gang Last Week And Will Also Have A Comic On Sale At The Convention” Mulvey! WOAH!
But if that’s not good enough, check out some of of the guests we have lined up to be hanging out and chatting with you, the good comic buying people who patron our site:
- Team Saga – Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples
- Team Luther Strode – Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore
- Sina Grace of Not My Bag and Li’l Depressed Boy
- Team Mind the Gap – Jim McCann and Rodin Esquejo
- Team Skullkickers – Jim Zubkavich and Ed Huang
- Team Comeback – Ed Brisson and Michael Walsh
- Jay Faerber of Point of Impact
- Nick Spencer of Morning Glories and Bedlam
- And more!
If you’ve ever wanted to ask Nick Spencer how “Morning Glories” ends or tell Justin and Tradd that you like how they make the violence in their book all cool and stuff, now’s your chance! And who knows who else might be dropping by? (Well, besides the people who plan to come. I guess they know they’re coming.)
But it’s not just guests! No! We’ve got all sorts of cool stuff:
- THE DANGER BOOTH, a free photo booth that will be manned for the duration of the party! Get your photo taken, then find it online at thedangerbooth.com!
- A RAFFLE! Every entrant will get a free raffle ticket with their $10 donation towards a neat prize of — you ready for this? – all of Image’s NYCC 2012 Exclusives, including a limited edition Manhattan Projects hardcover, a Bedlam #1 variant, and the Walking Dead Compendium volume 1 in hardcover!
- Want to up your change of winning the raffle? In addition to your initial ticket, it’s just $2 FOR ADDITIONAL TICKETS! What a bargain! What a steal! Be a crafty consumer!
- $5 BROOKLYN LAGER PINTS ALL NIGHT, straight to you from the wonderful folks at Brooklyn Brewery!
- AWESOME MUSIC! Trust us. We made the playlist ourselves.
It doesn’t sound like you can miss this party if you are a party-going sort of guy or gal.
So come on down to the Houndstooth Pub at 8PM after the show and bring $10 with you, provided you are 21 years old or older. A donation to the Hero Initiative not only assures you donating money to a great cause, btu you guarantee yourself a great evening. Feel free to RSVP on Facebook if you like; won’t guarantee you entry (or deny you, either!), but it’s nice to have a gauge of who plans to come.
We look forward to spending our evening with all you lovely folks!
