According to an announcement on Variety, it appears that Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot has been tapped to play Wonder Woman in the as-of-yet untitled Man of Steel sequel that pits Batman and Superman against one another.

Director Zack Snyder is quoted as saying:

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” Snyder said.

There’s very little else to say here, other than this will take an actress who is already established as an action star in a popular franchise to the next level as one of the most iconic comic characters of all time. Just like Affleck with Batman, Wonder Woman’s proverbial boots are an incredibly tough role to fill, but we look forward to what Gadot brings to the performance (and are also just pretty happy Wonder Woman is finally appearing in a feature film already).

Update: From Variety:

“The Wonder Woman rumor has been kicking around for some time, and insiders believe the plan is to have not just Batman and Superman in the film but several members of the Justice League as well. It’s unclear which members, but Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) and the Flash are said to be locks to make an appearance in some fashion, whether that’s a significant role or a cameo.”

Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
