Resident Alien v3 #0

Announced today from Dark Horse, Pete Hogan and Steve Parkhouse’s critically acclaimed* (*by me, repeatedly, all over this damn website) “Resident Alien” is returning for a third outing in ‘The Sam Hain Mystery.’

In the latest volume, our resident alien Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle finds an old briefcase that hints that a murderer is hiding in the town using an alias, perhaps that of Sam Hain, and it’s up to Harry to figure out who the murderer is. with Samhain being a reference to the festival that Halloween originated out of, that ushers out the harvest and welcomes the winter, or “darker half,” of the year. Of course, the idea of hiding in plain sight is not all that strange to Harry, all things considered, so this should hopefully play up some interesting duality to Harry’s own stature in the town — as a Doctor, sure, but also your neighbor and a liar.

Every year Dark Horse releases at least one new “Resident Alien” mini-series, and every year I insist that its brilliant. With wonderful artwork by Steve Parkhouse that really nails the eerie Twin Peaks-esque unsettling vibe of small town life coupled with Hogan’s wonderful character work, it’s always a stand-out series and one that I’m always sad to hear more people don’t read. But now’s your chance to correct that repeatedly bad habit of yours and get excited for the new “Resident Alien” mini, set for release in April of next year.

And if you’ve been reading it all along, then you get a gold star. Join us in April to celebrate.

Dark Horse Press Release

Acclaimed creators Peter Hogan (2000 AD, Tom Strong) and Steve Parkhouse (Milkman Murders, Doctor Who) return to their unique science-fiction/murder-mystery series!

Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle is actually a stranded alien explorer hiding out in a sleepy town in the Pacific Northwest. His short time as a doctor in Patience, Washington, has kept him busy solving mysteries, though! With a few successes under his belt, Harry tackles another one after the contents of an old briefcase hint that a murderer could be hiding in town in plain sight—using an alias. Sound familiar?

Resident Alien: The Sam Hain Mystery #0 (the first of a four-part series) is on sale April 29, 2015, from Dark Horse Comics. Preorder your copy today!
