The moment fans of The Walking Dead have been waiting for has finally come: Rick Grimes was cast in the upcoming AMC adaptation of the series. The Hollywood Reporter shared today that Andrew Lincoln has been cast as Grimes. Lincoln is most well known to American audiences as the man who was smitten with Keira Knightley (who was married to his best friend) in Love Actually, and he actually carried maybe the best part of the movie. I think this is a pretty solid job of casting, and I think he could kill it here.
On top of that, Robert Kirkman himself chimed in on his thoughts:
“Andrew Lincoln, wow–what an amazing find this guy is. Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human being and yet here he is. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this show is coming together.”
The Walking Dead (the show) launches in October. The comic keeps its incredible run monthly from Image Comics.
