Over at Entertainment Weekly, Titan Comics have announced a new three-part “Doctor Who” comic, “The Road to the Thirteenth Doctor,” starting in July. Each issue will feature a story starring the new Doctor’s predecessors, written by James Peaty (“Supergirl”), and consist of:
– “Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor,” in which David Tennant’s Doctor encounters lost, ghostly spaceships.
– “Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor,” where Matt Smith’s Doctor and his companion Alice visit 19th century San Francisco, which has become infested with robots.
– “Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor,” which has Peter Capaldi’s Doctor finding Piccadilly Circus, London, has been transformed into a prehistoric wasteland filled with pterodactyls.
The artists for each issue were not announced, although the covers were done by Robert Hack (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”). Each issue shall also come with a serialized back-up from the creative team of the Thirteenth Doctor’s forthcoming solo comic, namely writer Jody Houser, penciller Rachael Stott, and colorist Enrica Angiolini.
Titan also stated this year’s Doctor Who Comics Day will take place on November 24. In the meantime, “Doctor Who” comics fans will have plenty to look forward to, with a Free Comic Book Day featuring the new Doctor’s comics debut, as well as her first season and solo ongoing this fall.
