As announced on Twitter about a half hour ago, Rob Liefeld is leaving his three DC titles “Hawkman,” “Grifter” and “Deathstroke” after all the #0 issues.

Why? We’ll leave the explanation to Rob himself, who is as always unafraid to be blunt about his issues with the situation:

I believe in what DC is doing, but had to preserve my sanity. I walked off all 3 books. Can’t wait to see any attempts to spin. I have every email. … Reasons are the same as everyone’s that you hear. I lasted a few months longer than I thought possible. Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests… No thxnjs. Last week my editor said ” early on we had a lot of indie talent that weren’t used to re-writes and changes..made it hard”. Uh, no, it’s you.

He claims Scott Clark will replacing him on “Deathstroke,” but there is no one for “Grifter” or “Hawkman” yet, although Rob personally cites Justin Jordan as who he’d like to see. However, Rob also retweets Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool, who claims that all the books will be cancelled without Rob. So that’s interesting.

All of his books have been solicited up to issue #14. We’ll see what happens.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
