Remember how, for a little while it looked like there may be some issues with the cast of The Avengers doing more Marvel films? There are a few films in production, sure, but after Iron Man 3 RDJ was out of his contract — he hadn’t signed on for the Avengers sequel. And, as the highest paid star in the film, had claimed that he wouldn’t return unless the other members of the cast could get similar positive treatment (ie money).
Well, looks like thats all taken care of. The billion dollar plus blockbuster has at least one star set in its sequel, as Marvel has revealed on their website that a new deal has been struck with Downey Jr. to appear in upcoming films as Tony Stark aka the Invincible Iron Man. The deal is for Avengers 2 and Avengers 3, and one can assume that with a deal struck with Downey Jr., the rest of the cast is sure to return as well.
Marvel Studios struck a goldmine with their shared filmverse, so where reports initially claimed that Marvel was perhaps being a bit too stingy with their income, it appears that compensating their talent is in fact something worthwhile to the company. It’s nice to hear that Downey Jr. will put on the suit some more, and now hopefully children will cry less.
