Announced this morning via DC’s The Source blog, the next line-up for DC’s rotating arc-by-arc spotlight title DC Universe Presents, it seems James Robinson and Bernard Chang will be bringing notorious immortal villain Vandal Savage to the spotlight for three issues, starting with #9 in May. Ryan Sook will also still remain on covers.

In what is described as an FBI thriller arc, the story will star both Vandal and his daughter “Kass Sage”, as Sage uses her already imprisoned father to find a bigger threat. Obviously the daughter angle seems revamped from the previous continuity so it is unclear as to how much Sage is like Scandal Savage, but Chang’s sketches seem to indicate very little connection:

It is also notewothy that this is Chang’s second arc on the book, having also illustrated the first Deadman arc, and that Vandal Savage is currently alive and messing things up for everyone over in Demon Knights, aka the medieval Stormwatch. This arc will presumably follow that story in some way, although it doesn’t hurt that the main character is immortal.

Look for the story come May, following the Challenger’s of the Unknown two-issue arc.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
