Some of you might have seen a little film last summer entitled (500) Days Of Summer. In it, indie film darling Zooey Deschanel teamed up with indie film darling Joseph Gordon-Levitt to make a film with current indie film darling and future director of one of Sony’s biggest franchises, Marc Webb. It was a combination that filled our hearts with warm feelings and smiles all around, with fantastic music, great acting, and a romantic comedy that found a brand new niche and home in a world of cut-and-paste romantic comedies.
So is Zooey Deschanel going to be in Marc Webb’s new Spider-Man reboot? It’s a possibility according to website Showbiz Spy. According to the websites “sources”, Deschanel is in talks to play J Jonah Jameson’s assistant and PA, Betty Brants. There are apparently big plans for the character who was simply a minor role in the previous films (played by wig wearing Elizabeth Banks), and it’s safe to assume that Marc Webb – who has stated multiple times now that he won’t be focusing on the relationship with Mary Jane – is putting in her place to see a relationship blossom between her and Spidey star Andrew Garfield.
Which is certainly a long way of saying: I support this, Multiversity supports this, and if this is in fact truly the case then I’d like a time machine to just jump forward to the film where she has a prominent role, assumedly the sequel. Somebody get me Doc Brown’s number and a flux capacitor.
