Rumor Mill: Marvel To Launch New Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Young Avengers and X-Force Books

Marvel is clearly getting ready to announce a string of new Marvel NOW! books with a new teaser hitting the web today (seen here), but not only did we get that teaser today but a rumor ended up in the MC offices. A rumor from an anonymous source, but a credible one none the less. And with that single piece of information, we were able to extrapolate some additional information.

Or, more specifically: we may be able to tell you four upcoming books and creative teams from Marvel. What do we have?

  • “Nova” by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness (an old rumor, but a good one)
  • “Guardians of the Galaxy” by Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven possibly (since bringing back one Cosmic book means bringing back the other — oh, and there’s that upcoming movie)
  • “Young Avengers” by Kieron Gillen with Kid Loki on the team (or something along those lines — Kieron will almost assuredly still be writing Kid Loki post-“JiM” finale)
  • “X-Force” by Dennis Hopeless and Gabriel Hernandez Walta, starring Cable

Two of those are creative line-ups we’re willing to put money down, at least in terms of the writer if not the artist and one of them is as close to a sure thing as we’re willing to go. Anyone willing to place any bets?

Whether any of this is correct and whether or not it’s an ongoing or a mini is yet to be determined. Keep your eyes peeled, though.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
