In case you missed it, Vault announced a partnership with British comics collective White Noise for three new titles, the full creative teams have been announced for “The Sandman Universe,” and AfterShock Comics announced “Volition” from Ryan Parrott and Omar Francia. We also spoke to Rob Burman about Hellboy: The Board Game.

Eternals co-writer Matthew Firpo

– Marvel Studios has officially announced that Jack Kirby’s “The Eternals” will be the next property getting the MCU treatment. The studio has tapped Matthew and Ryan Firpo to write the screenplay. The Firpos don’t have any major feature credits yet, but their spec script Ruin was on the top of 2017’s Black List. The Eternals are near-immortal beings created by the Celestials as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that formed sentient life on Earth. Kirby created them after returning to Marvel.

Ed Brisson has revealed a few details about the upcoming “X-Men Extermination” by him and artist Pepe Larraz. The secretive series will take place 20 years in the future and follow the original five X-Men (the ones brought from the past, not the current versions) as their continued presence is having dire consequences, and “all of mutant existence is on the brink.” “X-Men Extermination” #1 will release on August 15, with #2 following two weeks later.

Stan Lee is suing POW! Entertainment, the production company he co-founded, for $1 billion. Lee alleges that his ex-business partners in the company either forged his signature, or took advantage of his failing health and grief over his wife’s passing to trick him into signing over the exclusive rights to his name, image, and likeness in the sale to Chinese company Camsing in 2017.

– President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey revealed some additional details about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s truncated sixth season. The 13-episode season will air in summer of 2019, with the move meant to breath some new life into the show, and not for any story reasons related to the MCU. Dungey also said that there are no plans to end the series as of yet.

– It was revealed that the upcoming Beastie Boys memoir, Beastie Boys Book, will include a graphic novel in addition to rare photos, original illustrations, a cookbook from chef Roy Choi, a map of “Beastie Boys’ New York,” mixtape playlists, and many more guest pieces. It’s unclear what the graphic novel’s content is or if there are other creators outside of the band members. The whole 592-page book will be available on October 20, 2018.

– Speaking of large collectible books, Dark Horse announced the next release in their line Legend of Zelda tie-in hardcovers, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Creating a Champion.” The book features “nearly 50 pages of sketches and official illustrations from Takumi Wada, 296 pages of design artwork and commentary,” a history of Hyrule, and interviews with various members of the game development team. The 424-page tome will be released on November 20, 2018.

– First Second Books has announced “The Greatest Thing,” a new YA graphic novel about a girl and the group of friends she makes in her sophomore year of high school who “help her figure out how to survive high school, body image issues, depression and bisexuality happening all at the same time.” The book is a fictionalized memoir of creator Sarah Winifred Searle’s (“Fresh Romance”, “Adventure Time”) teen years. “The Greatest Thing” will be released some time in 2020.

– “Green Lanterns” writer Tim Seeley is exiting the series for unspecified reasons a couple issues earlier than previously planned. Dan Jurgens is taking over in July with #50, but now recent DC Writer’s Workshop grad (and “New Challengers” co-writer) Aaron Gillespie will pen #48 and #49.

– BOOM! Studios announced that the ‘Power Rangers: Shattered Grid’ crossover would be coming to an end with August’s issues of “Go Go Power Rangers,” “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” and a special “Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid” one-shot by the MMPR creative team of writer Ryan Higgins and artist Daniele Di Nicuolo.

– Massive Kontent owner Jason Thibault created a fun infographic of the North American and UK comics publishing landscape. In addition, he also created an extensive spreadsheet with all available contact information and social media profiles of the various companies.

Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan wants to see a Lando Calrissian solo film, and has already volunteered his services to “help in any way.” Solo hasn’t even premiered yet, but fans are already singling out Donald Glover’s portrayal of Lando as a scene stealer.

– “Doomsday Clock” #6 is back to its originally solicited release date of July 18. No reason was given for the reschedule, but the series has seen several delays, and is almost guaranteed to see some more.

– And lastly, John Hodgman is joining Amazon Prime’s The Tick in a recurring role as “the AEGIS scientist.”
