Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– More details are being released about Powerless, the DC Comics/NBC television series that is said to be similar to The Office, and today NBC executives Robert Greenblatt and Jennifer Salke revealed that the main character will be a ‘recognizable’ one, and that characters like Batman and Superman will be referenced throughout the show. It has been said that there is no such thing as a bad idea, only bad execution – if that’s true, they better be praying for perfect execution, because this has Cop Rock written all over it.
– Amber Heard, late of Magic Mike XXL, The Danish Girl, and Friday Night Lights is rumored to be playing Mera in both Justice League and Aquaman. I can’t say I am super familiar with Heard’s work, but I think her looks fit the part quite nicely, although she looks nothing at all like fellow Atlantean Aquaman, aka Jason Mamoa.
– Despite casting a Scarlet Witch-esque “No more superhero shows” decree late last summer, CW President Mark Pedowitz hopes that Vixen – the animated series on the CW’s oddly titled web platform The Seed, starring Megalyn Echikunwoke – could spin off into a live action show, or at least have the character join Legends of Tomorrow. Echikunwoke will guest star on Arrow later this season.
– Valiant Entertainment and Hastings are bringing us a ‘Comics College’ at the end of this month. Part contest, part educational opportunity, it is a fascinating idea. Check out the details here.
– Funko, which does dedicated Star Wars and Marvel subscription boxes, launched ‘Legion of Collectors,’ a DC-centric merchandise box that launches in March. I know Funko wants all my money, but you’ve gotta do better than a Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice Pop! figure to hook me.
– And, finally, Comics Alliance put together a nice roundup of David Bowie art that was going around the fan community earlier this week. RIP Bowie.
