– Todd McFarlane (“Spawn,” “Spider-Man”) confirmed yesterday the new McFarlane-directed R-rated Spawn film will begin shooting in February of next year. McFarlane, who has never directed a film before, said he plans on updating fans daily via Facebook while shooting. McFarlane also mentioned he and Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) met with AMC about their Sam and Twitch television show based on the pair of NYPD murder detectives from the “Spawn” comic series.

– Titan Comics announced yesterday at NYCC the new “Assassins Creed Origin” comic will have a special digital code for downloadable bonus content in the upcoming video game. The company also announced that any store that will be ordering 25 copies or more will be able to return any unsold copies.

– Netflix has given a 10 episode series order for Raising Dion a new show about a single mother raising her son who has superhuman powers of unknown origin. Raising Dion was originally a short film directed by commercial and music video director Dennis Liu. The series is being executive produced by Michael B. Jordan (Creed, The Wire) who will also be appearing as the deceased husband of the show’s main protagonist, Nicole.

– Nintendo and Dark Horse announced yesterday in a press release they will be partnering for a new series of graphic novels based on the Nintendo Switch game, ARMS. For those who don’t know, ARMS is a multi-player competitive fighting game in which players fight with, you guessed it, their arms in order to win the coveted ARMS Grand Prix. The first of these “ARMS” graphic novels will be coming sometime Fall of 2018.

– In another press release from NYCC, Statix Press, the new imprint of Titan Comics, announced they will be publishing a new English translation of “La Saga d’Atlas & Axis” by French cartoonist, Pau. The comic, which will simply be titled “Atlas & Axis,” is about the fantastical world of Pangea where two anthropomorphic dog warriors, Atlas and Axis, embark (get it cause they’re dogs) on a quest to find and save their friends after a Viking hoard pillages there home village. “Atlas & Axis” #1 will be available in comic shops January 2018.

– David F. Walker (“Luke Cage & Iron Fist,” “Occupy Avengers”) apparently hasn’t had enough of the Planet of the Apes yet and will be returning to BOOM! for “Planet of the Apes: Ursus (The Rise of a Villian)” with artist Chris Mooneyham (“Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens,” “Five Ghosts”). Walker recently finished up his four-issue prequel to War for the Planet of the Apes, of the same name, and will now be moving on to focus on the backstory of Ursus, the main antagonist of Beneath the Planet of the Apes.

– A new graphic novel published by the Chaigely School aims to help adults better connect with children who have been the victims of abuse or other traumas. “The Rage For Life” is a wordless graphic novel by counselor, author, and artist David Taransaud about a young boy who transforms into a wolf to escape his neglectful and abusive family. “The Rage For Life” can be bought online here.

Samuel Oosting-FitzMichael is a very tall man who would prefer if you just called him Sam. His hobbies include pretending to have hobbies, desperately trying to read his always increasing 'to read' pile, and baking. He can be found on Twitter pontificating on the philosophical meaning behind all those Charmin Bear ads. What ever happened to the Batusi?
