Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– As if writing & drawing the continuing adventures of the new Savage Dragon wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Erik Larsen is co-producing at least 5 issues of “Spawn” with creator Todd McFarlane. Announced yesterday at NYCC (a phrase you’ll be seeing a lot of on this page), the division of labor between the two will include both having a hand in the writing and drawing of those comics, although McFarlane was pretty quick to point out his art contributions will be limited to inking. Still tho, interesting to see…
– If you’re not already excited for the return of “Star Wars Rebels”, then check out this 3-minute preview for the upcoming season, and that should do the trick. It’s not 100% new footage, but there’s a lot in there that I hadn’t seen before, and the overall effect is there. And while you watch the show this season, be sure to check back here with our own Alice W. Castle’s recap column after each episode (starting with a review of Season One). I know I will be!
– Announced yesterday at NYCC, Dark Horse made it known, among other things, they would be releasing a new “Lone Wolf & Cub” story by Eric Heisserer and Miguel Sepulveda. The definition of ‘new’ in this case is a little vague; could be OG “Lone Wolf” or something akin to “Lone Wolf 2100”. The company also clarified that their “Curator’s Collection” of the first “Sin City” arc would be scanned from original art a la ‘Artist Editions’, and that the Moebius Library was still happening, although no comment was given about what set of coloring for those comics would be used.
– We’ve learned, because it was announced yesterday at NYCC, that Van Jensen will be doing some work for Dark Horse in the form of a creator-owned series with artist Pete Woods called “Cryptocracy”.
– Although Guillermo Del Toro is no longer attached to direct (leaving him only a bazillion other projects to divide his time over), WB is still moving forward with the “Justice League Dark” film. Del Toro will still be attached in an executive producer role.
– It’s not quite Bart & Stimpy but John Kricfalusi is the latest guest animator/creator to design an extended couch gag for The Simpsons. John K’s gag will air on this year’s Treehouse of Horror episode on Oct. 25th, but you can see it right now at the link. That dude is in a class by himself, to be sure…
