Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Christmas has come early! We got our first full trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Last Jedi yesterday and it is glorious. Space Dogfights, grumpy old man Luke, Chewbacca and a Porg piloting the Millenium Falcon, and so much more packed into 2 minutes and 34 seconds of sweet sweet sci-fi goodness. The trailer was released in conjunction with tickets going on sale for Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s premiere on December 15.

– As we all rest and recuperate after a long and eventful New York Comic Con we must sadly mourn a loss in the comics community, no one died but artist Gabriel Hardman (“Invisible Republic,” “Agents of Atlas”) on twitter announced that he will no longer be accepting commissions for convention sketches. While at the Con, Hardman was informed that there was a woman selling prints of commissions he had drawn and after explaining to the woman that she was essentially taking money out of his pocket as convention commissions are a large source of income for artists. So now sadly thanks to this unidentified woman we now live in a Hardman commission-less reality, unless you’d like a cat or tree commission in which case you’re in luck.

– In related heart-breaking NYCC new: Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Freakazoid!), while discussing the future of the DC animated universe, crushed many fans hopes of one day seeing the seminal DC limited series “Kingdom Come” gloriously animated on the big screen. Timm said in an interview that the biggest gap to bridge would be replicating Alex Ross (“Shazam!: Power of Hope,” “Paradise X”)’s distinctly photorealistic style, to wit he said “there isn’t enough money on the planet to make it look like that, so there’s really no reason to do it.” So if any of you are independently wealthy beyond our wildest dream (looking at you Bill Gates) we would greatly appreciate it if you threw oodles of money at this problem until a solution is formulated, till then everyone can read “Kingdom Come” by Mark Waid (“Avengers,” “Flash”) and Alex Ross a couple hundred more times.

– It’s not all bad news though! DC also released an animated poster for the upcoming Teen Titans Go! feature film featuring a list of the voice actors for the film. In addition to the established voices we all know and love from the show it also appears that Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars, The Good Place) and Will Arnett (Arrested Development, The Lego Batman Movie) will be joining the film. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies will be in theatres July 27, 2018.

– Asterix is back! The Gallic hero and his portly sidekick Obelix will be returning in 2018 for “Asterix and the Chariot Race” the 37th book in the Asterix library and will feature the pair in the midst of a race through ancient Rome on the behest of Julius Caesar himself. Author Jean-Yves Ferri (“Back to the Basics,” “Asterix and the Missing Scroll”) and artist Didier Conrad (Asterix and the Picts,” “Asterix and the Missing Scroll”), who worked on the past two additions to the series, said that they wanted this book to focus more closely on Obelix than previous entries in the series. “Asterix and the Chariot Race” will be out on bookshelves October 19 in Europe and out November 1 here in America.

– Actor Matt Ryan (The Halcyon, Constantine) will once again be reprising his role as John Constantine in the Arrow-verse. It was announced yesterday that Ryan would be joining the cast of Legends of Tomorrow for a two-episode arc involving a mental asylum and demonic possession. The episodes will take place timeline-wise directly after Constantine’s appearance in season 4 of Arrow and will also feature the villainous Damian Dahrk, with Neal McDonough (Captain America: First Avenger, Band of Brothers) reprising that role. Matt Ryan will also be starring in the CW Seed animated show Constantine, which is set to debut early 2018, and the season 3 premiere of Legends of Tomorrow will be on tonight October 10 at 9 pm on The CW.

Samuel Oosting-FitzMichael is a very tall man who would prefer if you just called him Sam. His hobbies include pretending to have hobbies, desperately trying to read his always increasing 'to read' pile, and baking. He can be found on Twitter pontificating on the philosophical meaning behind all those Charmin Bear ads. What ever happened to the Batusi?
