Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– The CW revealed yesterday that it is developing yet another DC property. Project 13 will follow Traci Thirteen and her father Dr. Terrance Thirteen as they investigate mysterious cases of the paranormal, as Traci is discovering her own newfound abilities. Elizabeth Banks is attached as one of the executive producers on the project. Traci and Dr. Thirteen have never had their own series, but have made appearances in several DC comics, including “Superman,” “Batman,” “Flashpoint,” and last year’s “Superwoman” #5. Get ready for the inevitable five-show crossover event if this gets picked up to series.

– The Hellboy reboot cast keeps growing. Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson, and Alistair Petrie have joined the film. Okonedo will play Lady Hatton, a seer at a club dedicated to solving supernatural mysteries, Petrie is playing Lord Adam Glaren, a high-ranking member of the club, and Gleeson is playing Merlin. The trio joins David Harbour as Hellboy and Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen, along with Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Penelope Mitchell so far.

Former Double Take head Bill Jemas has taken up an interesting new occupation. Jemas has partnered with some beverage industry executives to form Gratitude Foods, a company that produces food products that use ingredients “clinically-proven to help prevent cancer.” Double Take published several comic series that all took place in the same universe as Night of the Living Dead, and folded in November of last year. Hopefully this latest venture isn’t just an attempt to provide source material for more zombie comics.

– Pacific Rim will be getting a new six-issue mini-series to help bridge the gap between the first film and next year’s Pacific Rim: Uprising. Legendary Comics has recruited writer Cavan Scott and artist Richard Elson to tell the story of Jake Pentecost (played by John Boyega in the movie), as he investigates the death of his father (Idris Elba in the original). “Pacific Rim: Aftermath” #1 will be released on January 17, 2018.

– Fantasy author Nnedi Okorafor is the latest creator to join Karen Berger’s Dark Horse imprint, Berger Books. Okorafor will be doing a five-issue mini-series about strange things unearthed at LaGuardia airport, aptly named “LaGuardia.” Few details are known at this time, other than the author’s brief summary on twitter, “It’s about immigration, aliens, & Africans.”

– Alterna Comics has partnered with two local comic shops in New England to produce some TV commercials. The commercials will air during Rick and Morty and South Park during October and November in some New England markets. Alterna recently started producing budget-priced comics using newsprint.

– A Smithsonian exhibit will feature the work of AFRO cartoonist Thomas A. Stocket. Stocket was the editorial cartoonist for the paper from 1955 until his death in 2007. “The Fight in Black and White: The Afro-American Newspaper and the Politcal Cartoons of Thomas A. Stockett” talk will be on October 21, and is part of a three-day panel discussion.

– Netflix has finally revealed the premier date of Punisher as November 17, along with a new trailer. The release date also happens to be the same day that Justice League premieres in theaters. The announcement comes after several Punisher related events were cancelled in the wake of the Las Vegas mass-shooting on October 1.

– And lastly, did you know Gabriel Hardman also does storyboard work? Recently, in an interview with Screen Crush, Hardman went over some of his more notable work on Austin PowersX-FilesX2, and several others.
